Which matters go where

The forum depends on the nature and seriousness of the matter — the complex houses the sessions courts, the magistracy, the civil courts and the Family Court under one roof.

District & Sessions Judge and Additional Sessions Judges

Serious (“sessions triable”) offences, sessions-level bail and anticipatory bail applications go before the District & Sessions Judge or an Additional Sessions Judge. Anticipatory bail is moved before the Court of Session here, and on rejection before the Punjab & Haryana High Court.

The CJM and Magistrate courts

The Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) heads the magistracy at Faridabad. Most criminal trials, first productions and remand, police-report cognizance, and cheque-bounce complaints under Section 138 NI Act run before the CJM and the Judicial Magistrates First Class. Traffic court challans — including drink-and-drive matters under Section 185 MV Act — are also dealt with at this level.

Civil courts at Faridabad

Civil disputes — recovery suits, possession and eviction matters, injunctions, partition — go before the Civil Judges, distributed by pecuniary valuation, with the senior-most civil work before the District Judge’s own jurisdiction. The Family Court

Timings, cause lists and case status

The court sits 10:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday to Saturday except the second and fourth Saturdays, with a lunch recess of 1:00-1:30 PM, and is closed on Sundays and gazetted holidays. Daily cause lists and case status are available through the eCourts system by CNR number, case number, party name or advocate name. Certified copies are obtained through the copying agency. The court remains closed on gazetted holidays notified for the Haryana judiciary; the authoritative holiday list for the current year is published on the Faridabad district court’s official eCourts page, and local-holiday declarations (which vary district to district) are notified separately — before travelling for a date near a festival, checking the official notification or confirming through counsel avoids a wasted trip. Filing and appeals

Matters are filed before the appropriate court at the complex; several categories now support e-filing and online court-fee payment. Appeals and revisions lie to the Punjab & Haryana High Court at Chandigarh, and thereafter to the Supreme Court of India by Special Leave Petition.

Where is Faridabad District Court?

The District & Sessions Court, Faridabad is in the Judicial Complex, Sector 12, near Bata Chowk. How to file a case in Faridabad court

1. Identify the forum — civil judge, magistrate, Family Court, MACT or consumer commission — by the nature and value of the dispute and the place it arose.
2. Prepare the pleading — a plaint (civil), a complaint under Section 223 BNSS (private criminal complaint), or a petition (family) — with a list of documents and an affidavit where required.
3. Pay court fee — on valuation in civil suits, by e-stamp or online payment.
4. File — at the filing counter of the complex or through e-filing on the eCourts e-filing portal, with a vakalatnama if an advocate is engaged.
5. Scrutiny and registration — the registry checks the papers, assigns a case number and CNR, and lists the matter; status can then be tracked online.

After filing a case in Faridabad District Court — summons to first hearing

1. Issue of summons or notice: after registration, the court orders summons to the defendant or accused. Process fee and copies are filed with it.
2. Service: by post, by the process server, or electronically where the court permits it.
3. First hearing: appearance, written statement or reply in civil cases, and plea or notice of accusation in criminal complaints.
4. Mediation or Lok Adalat referral where the dispute is capable of settlement, through the Mediation Centre at the complex.
