Our sourcing standard
Statements of law on this site are checked against primary sources — the bare text of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam, 2023, official Gazette notifications, and reported judgments (cited by neutral citation or SCC/AIR reference, cross-checked against Indian Kanoon or the court's own website where available). Secondary summaries — including other websites and general commentary — are not treated as authority for a legal proposition; where the underlying primary source could not be verified, the page says so rather than asserting the point as settled.
How we use drafting tools
